Hi, I believe that I need to reseat the LCD cable on my MacBook Pro as the screen is black but the backlight still works. I cannot find a simple description of how to do this. Any advice would be appreciated? Thanks in advance!
Unlike the older 2015 retina models which had the display cable route through the hinge with a connector on the logic board as seen here:
Apple made a radical change! Using a set of ribbon cables which went between the upper case and the lid. Here’s the layout of these cables:
Photo credit: @just1ed www.macplus.sg The logic board at the bottom of the image sits inside your upper case (T-CON board) The T-CON function was held inside the display lid with the LCD panel in the older 2015 systems, now it sits here with the massive group of lines running between. None of these cables are serviceable so nothing to reseat.
So where does that leave us ?? Sadly, the full display assembly needs to be replaced as the T-CON board has failed. Remember as I described things this board is part of the display assembly and not serviceable on its own, which is why you need a new display.
