Chosen Solution
So, I am proceeding to replace the thermostat on my Danby Freezer Model DCF401W. However the new thermostat has a longer probe (about 7inch longer) than the original. I am unable to push it further. Can I leave the extra inches out? Should I cut the probe and seal it back? Suggestion?
Sears Parts indicates the part is no longer mfg by Danby and there is no substitute part available. Since you have something you can choose to return it or butcher it up to try to make it work. If you succeed, a feather in your cap. If you do not, to the dump you go.
