My buddy spilled something on their mac book air, causing the keyboard and mouse to not work, not even the power button. I ordered a new battery on ebay and a new ribbon cable from amazon. I replaced the ribbon cable the battery icon still says it’s not holding a charge and the keyboard still doesn’t work. The mouse and power button now work though. What are my next steps or should I just sell the thing off?
Well, replacing the cable got the power switch to work it didn’t fix the keyboard which likely is a damaged trackpad. Unlike many of the MacBook Pro’s, this series has the keyboard wired to the trackpad and the cable which goes to the logic board carries both set of signals to the logic board. The USB driver logic is also on the trackpad. You also can have a strong possibility of having a damaged logic board as well. I would start off inspecting the logic board for corrosion damage. You’ll need to take it out as the backside is likely the side that has the damage MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Logic Board Replacement
