My boyfriend bought a used Xbox one that had a broken disk drive. For Christmas I bought him the replacement (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Blu-Ray-Disc-D…) and when he put it in, it took the disk but an error message saying there was a problem with the disk drive popped up. The first disk drive didn’t have this issue, it simply would not take the disks. He has power cycled it and has been messing with it all night to no avail. We can not figure out what is wrong with it and I don’t think I got the wrong part
Replacement drive will not work as the drives are individually paired to each console. However if the replacement drive is the EXACT SAME make and model, you can swap the electronic board so pairing information is retained. That is if the original fault wasn’t on the board, if that happened, the only viable option is to repair the board.
