Just replaced the LCD assembly after smashing the original (sadface). Made sure everything is connected properly and the screen works as it should but the backlight is extremely dim (still works however). If i try to adjust using the settings the screen reaches maximum brightness after about 20% of the slider, any slider movement above this makes no change to the bightness of the backlight. Has anyone come across this before? p.s. The screen was bought from a vendor on eBay claiming to sell OEM replacement parts. Compared side by side to the original screen that came out of the phone, there were next to no differences in the production quality apart from the original screen had a black paper-like cover on the back of the LCD and the replacement part had a shiny mirror like cover.
I highly doubt it’s the logic board. It doesn’t even get touched during the repair, unless you damaged the connector but I don’t think that would effect the backlight in that way. I would try a new lcd.
Someone made the jump posted by friend? I have a case to solve this. I’ll make the jump and put the result.
it could be the screen, a lot of these 3rd party screens are refurbished and install low quality backlights in the refurbishing process other solutions could be if the phone is in power saving mode or under 10% battery could be a calibration thing, so restore phone to factory settings.
