Replaced battery and screen on iphone 5. All went well and worked right off the bat first time. Was using the phone about an hour later and screen froze then parts of the screen turned grey and then all black. Disassembled and reassembled and still nothing. My computer shows when I phone is plugged into it that it’s in recovery mode. The screen is totally black no images. I’m gonna try and restore as itunes is suggesting. Any chance the screen is defective? What would allow it to work for an hour then just quit working?

I think there’s two options, if I’m wrong correct me guys…

  1. the parts you replace made themselves malfunction.
  2. when replacing them you made damage to the motherboard. I would recommend returning the old parts to understand where the problem and on the way look on the motherboard maybe you made damage to components / something missing / broken?

The screen in the iphone could be defective but that would not have made the phone go into recovery mode. The first thing i would like you to try is hold the power button and the home button for 10 seconds then release them both, if the screen remains blank plug the phone into your computer and see if it is still in recovery mode or not. If it is not in recovery mode then the problem will be the screen is defective, can i ask where you got the screen from and is it original or a cheap copy screen.
