I replaced the main board on my TV and when it turns on there is no picture, just some soft music. I get the green to amber flashing light on the bottom remote control sensor on the TV. I tried putting a thumb drive with the latest update in the usb and still nothing after several hours. Thanks For you help Update (09/25/2017) Lets start from the beginning, We were watching tv and switched the HDMI input to the one our apple tv was hooked to and watched that for a bit. We switched back to the cdmi that our Directv was hooked to and got a message on the sony home screen(something to the fact that had quit responding). We tried to select another input and this msg would just keep coming up. We then unplugged it and let it sit for about ten min then plugged back in, it came up with the “Sony” screen, then went black, and then went to a black screen with the light around the edge. Couldn’t get any buttons to work now. We then unplugged and let sit overnight and plugged back in in the morning with the same results. I called Sony, no help there, then called Best Buy talked with Geek Squad member and he advised me that is was prob a main board(BTW Tv is only 16 months old). So I found a main board on eBay part # A-2072-588A , the main board part# that came out of tv was a A-2072-588B. Update (09/25/2017) Now I have a black screen no “Sony” booting up, led is flashing between amber and green, and just some soft music. I can cycle it on and off with the power button now and it will just go to the white led but still no picture. Thanks in advance

I ended up finding out it’s a bad board. I called for a RMA and the new board arrived. Once I replaced the new board I was able to get some lights to flash which was white and green. I pluggedin the a USB with the latest firmware downloaded from the sony site and it took about 30 mins for the update to take place and a few restarts. It restarted into the Welcome screen and everything started working perfectly afterwards.

@tweed6 let us know if that LED blinks with any sequence. When you say you changed the main board are you referring to the Main board (all the inputs are on this board) or the Power board. Since you have sound but no picture it could be the power board not turning on the backlight or a failed T-con board. Post some images of all of your boards with your question so that we can see what you see. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. the T-con board should have a use on it as well as the fuses on the power board need to be checked for continuity.

I just fixed an XBR-75X850C that the initial problem was programs would freeze for a couple seconds. These periods got longer the more the tv was in use. Also the Ethernet port stopped working. I changed out the main board, A-207-256-4C. After replacing the board I got black screen and spa music which is normal. Amber and green lights started flashing implying a software update was needed as expected. I then downloaded the latest software from Sony support site 6.827. Extracted zip to my usb stick (16GB). I unplugged the tv, installed the usb stick and then plugged back in. Amber and Green lights flashed and then white light flashed, then pulsing white light. Then tv powered off and on a couple times and then LED went solid Green. TV shut off. I powered it on and screen is black and led stuck green still. On another reboot it stayed red. After lots of failed attempts found article that said to change the sony_dtv0FA50A09A0A9_00014300_1aab0105.pkg file name to update_loader.pkg on the usb drive. I did this, then unplugged tv, held power off for 45 sec to clear cache. Then plugged in tv and turned on via remote. Amber and green lights started, then moved into white light and then pulsing white light and then a blue light. This did a couple sequences like this and then the tv screen powered on and said update complete remove USB. I clicked ok after removing usb stick and Android operating system booted as normal and tv is now fully functional again. I suspect a lot of folks here are having the same issue as the update seems like it’s working but it really isn’t.

I have a similar issue. After a surge, HDMI ports stopped working. But my mom could still watch Netflix for a few more weeks. Then the tv just wouldn’t come on. I ordered a Main board and Power board (just in case) I replaced them both. Now the Backlight comes on the TV plays relaxing music like if you were at a spa. The bottom LED light was flashing green/Orange. I downloaded the firmware onto a Thumb Drive and followed the procedure. the light went white….but didn’t do much. Still have the backlight on….and same music. Thoughts?

Hello, how did you fix the issue after main board change.?I have same problem after I changed Main board T-con and power board as well.I did firmwear update but Still black screen.

Hey guys sorry been out of touch for a while. So if your getting green or amber lights and still just spa music. Make sure your USB stick is no bigger than 32 GB, Sony is very particular about that. And yes make sure it’s formatted in fat32 before you copy over the firmware. Also you must update the filename as stated above it will not work if that name is not exact and it’s case sensitive. Once you have your USB stick ready unplug the TV and then hold the power button on the back of the TV down for at least 45 sec to clear the cache and start fresh. Then plug the USB in, then the power cord. Then turn the TV on using your Sony remote power button. That should trigger the software update which can take up to an hour depending on your model. You should see it cycle through a white and blue light if the software update is working. Amber and green mean your firmware update did not trigger.
