My iPhone spent 24 hours in a river! The dock-connector was also damaged during the accident I had causing the phone to go into the river. It almost worked yesterday, white Apple, battery pic but not charging (just red vertical stripe at LH end) I even reached my home page a few times. Also had voice control window, but it wouldn’t connect to my carrier. Today however I can’t turn it off, and when I try to do that I just get a bright white screen, completely blank white, which dims when left untouched :-(
I’m amazed that you recovered it after 24 hours in a river!
You should open your iPhone using this guide. Once you’re at a step where you can see the logic board, you should use some strong isopropyl alcohol (90%+) and a soft brush to remove any white-ish residue you see. Let the device dry
did you strip the thing down and dry it through? i assume, you did. i would also try to swap the battery. it will almost certainly be shorted…
I’ve also done this procedure with no succes. But mine wasn’t dropped in the river. But i saw that one of the inner labels where pink so i guessed it was once dropped in water. So i’ve bought isopropyl alcohol(96%) and washed it good and brush it gently. i’ve asumed the battery wasn’t working soh i bought a new battery. when i got the battery it charged for a whole day with no succes. So i’ve again searched for answer and came upon a solution on ifixit that maybe replacing the dock connector might work soh i’ve done that also. I’ve installed the new dock connector it showed sings of life(the screen flashed 3 times with apple logo) and i though it was a problem. So i disconnected it from the power source(wall charger), when i plugged it back in no screen display. i was wondering what might this be
