Hi, I have an iPhone SE and it needed a replacement charging port and I purchased one and replaced it. Touch ID no longer works and when I attempt to charge it the device is very strange. If I power it on by the power button and plug it in nothing happens. If I plug it in while powered off it does charge and connect to the computer. I followed the directions on the website everything got replaced easily but now Touch ID is not working and the weird charging thing. Did I do something wrong or is there something i’m missing?
Sounds like it could be a faulty charge port flex as the homebutton connects through it also, maybe first check the condition of the connectors and try re-seating the flexs, if its still faulty then you could try the old flex.
Might be a bad charge port. If you can, try another one. You don’t have to disassemble the entire device to test a new charge port. Just click it in and see if it fixes the problem. As for Touch ID, there are a few things that could be going on. On the SE, the home button cable is in my opinion, a stupid design. It’s far too easy to pull the screen up too far and damage the ribbon cable. Hopefully what happened is that you just didn’t get it clicked back in correctly. We run into this some times where the button will still register a click but Touch ID won’t work. Try re-seating the connector first. If Touch ID still is not working then it’s possible you damaged the home button and Touch ID will never work on this device again. Apple would be the only one that could fix this as they are the only ones that can link a new home button to a phone.
