Chosen Solution

Two years ago, I replaced my iPhone 4s battery and dock connector. Today, I was planning to replace the battery again (this time with an ifixit battery). Lost a screw behind the dock connector, so I had to pull that first set of pins to recover it. Everything seemed to go back together OK, but the new battery would not charge. (Replaced the old battery and it would not charge.) Tried plugging in the phone without a battery, no power. Tired plugging the phone into PC to access iTunes. Got a sound that the computer recognized that a USB cable was connecting, but iTunes did not recognize that a device was connected. Seems like the only solution might be to replace the dock connector again, but I really only took out that first cable connection and it seems to be correctly seated again.

js993399, triple check you work to make sure it is all back the way it is supposed to be. If it is than I would suggest that you do replace the dock connector. Also, make sure that you did not accidentally broken of some of the smaller components while replacing the battery. Use a magnifier and take a close look at it.
