Hey all, last week I replaced the battery in my Mid-2011 13" Air. It went great, and now I have a lot more battery life to work with. However, I still get serious issues with getting the MagSafe power adaptor to actually charge the computer. The magsafe that I have is in really good condition for being 7+ years old, but the little light on it frequently stays black (not charging) and I have to do many minutes of plugging/unplugging to get it to charge a not-full battery (currently at 33%) and have the light turn orange. Should I try resetting the SMC? Or is my magsafe just too old?
That’s a pretty old power supply. I would replace it. The light not coming on is a bad sign…and the wires in the old power supplies are aluminum (!) and don’t handle being coiled tightly or strained well.
