I’m doing a repair on a prof’s computer, I replaced a swollen battery on a Mid 2014 Macbook Pro retina, the external works ok, but the main laptop display doesn’t… Battery came from amazon, listed on box as Late 2013 - Mid 2014 its from Egoway Model A1494, 11.26 volts 95 Wh 8440mAh Li-ion Polymer. could it be the battery? could it be the display? UPDATE: someone worked on the macbook prior to me, they hosed the display cable on the top right putting the case back together. so essence… it needs a display.
It’s possible to “harvest” that eDP cable from a broken display (exact same model/year) and you’ll be good to go! Let me know if you find one & need to know how.
which screwdriver I need to open MacBook Pro?
