Even after replacing the harddrive and the battery it (5th gen iPod) still goes through the reboot cycle with the light grey apple then on to the sad face, the only thing left is the motherboard but am reluctant to replace since they are 70 dollars, but if needed will replace that also. Need ideas or help. -Cory Update I have done some minor cleaning with a toothbrush and while doing so didn’t seem to see anything that looked burned, but will clean alittle bit better to see if this helps. If not, then I will get the logic board. Thanx for all the help.
That kind of malfunction appears to be related to the logic board. Has something happend to it? If there is corrosion, a cleaning might do the trick
Does iTunes recognize the iPod if you connect it to your computer? It may be a bad hard drive cable.
