Hi! I have a iMac 27" Mid 2011 with a 128GB SSD as Primary drive and a 1TB Classic HD. The 128 GB SSD is too small and I bought a new 500GB Crucial SSD, copied the old drive via CarbonCopy and mounted it in the Mac. But the Mac doesn´t see the new Drive. Someone told me that Apple uses Special OEM Crucial SSDs which have a Special connector but I can´t belive this. Any Idea what is gooing wrong? Thanks in advance for your Support. Sven

You need to format the drive GUID and Mac OS X extended to be able to run it internally. If you are running a newer OS X, cloning is not the way to go because you lose the repair partition. After formatting the disk, install the system you want and updates then use migration assistant to move your data and Apps

Hi! I´ve cloned the drive successfully, I was able to boot from it at USB selecting it with ALT-Key. With CarbonCopy you can create also the repair Partition.
