Hi, is it possible to just replace the glass part of the screen? Everything works fine, but the glass has some scratches that are really annoying when editing pictures. An entire new lcd panel isn’t necessary, as the screen works fine apart from the scratches.

Here’s a good look at the displays construction MacBook Pro Retina Display Teardown As you can see there is no separate cover glass with this displays design unlike the older unibodies. You also have a very sought after model! People are not letting them go, fixing them up as they just don’t want to lose the better design than the newer 13” & 15” MacBook Pro’s. So finding parts is getting harder and more costly! Here’s the needed guide to take the display assembly off MacBook Pro Retina Display Teardown The two directions you can take to replace the full assembly or the discreet LCD panel. For most the full assembly is the better as replacing the discreet panel is not easy! For you I think you’ll find using an external monitor would be the better direction! Using a second monitor as you can have your tool’s on your internal and the image you are working with on the external which can even be a bigger image! This is also the cheaper direction as all you need is the mDP or Thunderbolt to HDMI (or what ever your display/TV has). You could even use AirPlay! While I don’t recommend it for editing images due to the lag, its a great way to preview if you have a nice large TV screen. I work with some very large images (for museum diorama’s) which I couldn’t do without having a larger display.
