Chosen Solution
Hello, I want to figure out exactly what I need and need to do to replace a broken screen for an iPhone X. When I check the iFixIt page for iPhone, it shows “screen and digitizer”. So there are two parts. First off, what exactly is the digitizer? From what I understand, that is what gives the iPhone touch capability - is that correct? How do I know if I need to replace just the screen, digitizer, or both? Lastly, is there a big (noticeable) difference if I replace the screen with LCD as opposed to AMOLED? Thank You!!
You CANNOT peel the screen from the front glass or digitizer, this requires professional equipment and still has very high failure rate and bad overall quality no matter how careful you try to be. From now on ALWAYS treat the front glass, digitizer (if there is a discrete piece of it) and the display as one unit. I don’t think you can replace the screen with different type. I’ve heard some brands of aftermarket iPhone display panels but I don’t think there is an IPhone X LCD variant.
there are 3 different replacement screens qualities on the market. aftermarket lcd aftermarket oled and oem refurbished. in my opinion the am lcd is trash and dont waste your money. the am oled is the way to go for price vs quality. its hard to distinguish between am oled and oem oled. just do youself a favor and dont use the lcd.
Firstly when you buy a screen it will come with both the screen and digitizer. Which is fine and you can easily assemble this into the phone, if you replace with a LCD instead of OLED then you will notice a change as the LCD is not as sharp as OLED and the LCD also uses a backlight which OLED does not
if its just the glass that’s cracked and everything works as it should then get a replutable company who do a glass only repair/replacement so you keep the original quality. if the OLED is broken then find a good quality replacement (one whole unit).
