Hello Has anyone replaced a motor in a Miele S8310 vacuum cleaner please? i used it to vacuum up concrete dust from grinding a floor and burnt out the motor …. I an smell it’s burnt out. I have had the machine for about 10 years and i really like it and it always worked very well. Any advice would be appreciated. heers Frances

Frances, I did exactly the same duh! I manged to disassemble the Miele vacuum and take the motor out and replaced the 2 bearings. it was the bearings in the motor not the motor itself that failed due to friction of the dust). The vacuum was 10 years old and has been running since for the next 12 years (and still going strong). The bearings you can bought online, not expensive. Disassembling the cleaner seems daunting but if you do it gradually and methodically it’s pretty easy. Lay out parts in order you disassemble them to enable you to reverse later, take photos as a memory aid too if you want. The hard part is getting the 2 bearings off. I manged this with gentle taps with a hammer and thin bike spanner to support the rotor. Make sure you measure the exact distance in mm to replace bearing in exactly same place. You need star screwdriver, hammer and support plate of some sort a workbench or table, a vice may be handy too or a friend to lend a hand. good luck Nearly forgot bolt to release rotor fan blade is left hand thread you have to turn the bolt the ‘wrong way’ to release it. You don’t need a new motor just two $3 dollar bearings.
