Hwy, do you guys know how to fix the back glass of iPhone XS Max?
My understanding is that if you heat up the back with a heat gun or blow dryer you can peel the glass off as it’s held on with adhesive. If you broke the back glass you really have nothing to lose with getting it off, you can hack away at it until it’s off with an opening pick and/or a Jimmy. Just don’t use excessive force in a way that would damage other components of your phone. Make sure you have your replacement back glass on hand before doing this, though! HOWEVER… There is no such replacement back glass existing at the moment that would work for this phone that I am aware of at the time of this post. You may have better luck finding that part.
This repair has been made intentionally difficult. You will either need to heat up the glue to soften it and hack away at the glass, or freeze the back and chip it off. This can damage your phone, so take everything out of the housing first. You will then need to clean the glue off the frame, and then re-glue it back on (the exact glue I am not sure of). However! The glass to replace it with does not exist yet, and when it does, it will either be blank or be breaching copyright laws (as it has the apple logo on it). It cannot be done at this stage, and (I can’t believe I am suggesting this) either live with the cracks, use a skin or a case to protect it or if you really want it fixed, give it to apple.
I have just done a back glass replacement. No big issues, have to have a focused heat gun to heat the adhesive. Several videos of this being done on youtube. Ordered rear glass from DHgate
Replacing the whole housing is the easiest option, but if you want to replace the glass, heating the back is possible, and some people say cooling the phone with liquid nitrogen is easier, although both are intentionally extremely hard.
The issue that comes with replacing the back panel, is that it’s glued onto the internal housing. The actual internals are apart of the back panel, and not the front. Apple is currently ‘repairing’ devices with cracked/shattered/damaged back glass panels by replacing the entire internals.
Just replaced the whole housing it’s much easier and purchase the “naked frame” because only OEM cables seem to work properly with this phone
