I recently received a xiaomi mi 9t/redmi k20 with a broken screen from a friend. I ordered a replacement display+frame and installed it without any problems but the phone wouldn’t turn on. I thought it might be because the contact pads for the power button were slightly off so I disassembled it and reassembled it again. When I plugged it into my PC’s USB port windows gave me a message saying there was a power surge on the USB port and my device was drawing too much power. I then tried my usual charging brick with no effect only to realize later that it had killed the charger. Anyone have any experience with something like this or know how I should proceed from here?
Honestly it sounds like something is shorted out inside of it. Explains the power surge message saying the device was drawing too much power, and why it is killing your power supply. I would open it back up, and check everything. Ribbons, wires, everything you can see. See if maybe some wires pinched together shorting out, or something like that.
