I recently replaced the LCD on my 2019 MacBook Pro 1989 and all was well until it sounded like something snapped (not loudly) and now the LCD/cover no longer stays up. It either flops closed or backwards. Zero tension on the screen to hold it up (no side-to-side wiggle). The hinges connecting the LCD to the body are tight. I think these hinges are clutch type hinges, so perhaps something went awry with the clutch? Anyone ever faced this situation? Hopefully repairable without a new LCD. I have the old hinges from the original LCD. Assuming I need to disassemble the entire LCD and troubleshoot? (I used these instructions to make the LCD replacement — MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2018 Screen Replacement)

You’ll need to get a replacement display from the supplier as it was defective!
