So I have the opportunity to buy a MacBook Pro Early 2013 from a friend, for 200$. the Mac has a broken SSD, according to a tech support he took it some years ago (the Mac only was used two years, and he only used for university’s work). I saw that I can change the SSD easily, and I was thinking about buying the Samsung EVO 970, with a Sintech NGFF M.2 nVME adaptor, and then I would simply install a new software downloading by internet connection. Now my question is, should it would be enough, or the Mac can request something like the EFI? If so how can I unlock it? Could appears other inconvenient?
Before buying it, I would hook up an external Drive and boot from it and run disk utilities to confirm that it is the drive. Also do not try to adapter a drive built for PCs they just don’t behave well. Take a look at the available drives at OWC https://eshop.macsales.com that made for Macs, you’ll regret it otherwise.
