I’ve already installed the new battery from ifixit for my MacBook Pro 13” Retina display. I did this in conjunction with putting in a new keyboard. I’ve just discovered that my keyboard backlight isn’t working properly. If I remove the new battery, will it stick when I put it back in or do I need to buy adhesive tape (and if so, what kind)?
Removing the battery will weaken the adhesive so you will need to clean it off fully and then replace it after fixing your keyboard backlight (replacing it). As what to use it needs to be thin as the free space is very limited! I would use something in this group 3M Adhesive Transfer Tapes F9473PC ∙ 468MP ∙ 467MP ∙ 9665 ∙ 9485PC ∙ 950 I have not encountered your plight so I hadn’t tested the adhesion on what Apple or others have used to tell you which is the correct choice.
