Chosen Solution
Hello my dear friends I wonder if there is a solid solution to remove the remaining adhesive after removing the Galaxy S7s Back Cover. In order to install a new back cover adhesive I have to remove the remaining adhesive left there. When I pull the adhesive stripes there is a certain danger to accidentally remove the color foil from the back cover. Heat is also not very effective on this. Is there any adhesive remover?
Also I noticed that on the Galaxy S8 Back Cover e.g. there is on the lower side of the back cover a different type of adhesive which can not be removed with heat. Would be happy if someone has a solution for this :)
iFixit sells a handy product that helps remove battery, screen and glass adhesive. It should help you out in this scenario. Just use a 1-2 drops per inch and that adhesive should go kaput. iFixit Adhesive Remover Update (10/10/2018) The adhesive remover is your best option when it comes to softening the adhesive. You can try <90% Isopropyl Alcohol with some heat, but if that doesn’t work the adhesive remover will be your best bet.
I use Isopropylique Alcool and some heat. It works for me.
Isopropyl alcohol or GooGone works well for removing adhesive. I have never used GooGone in a phone though. When trying to remove the adhesive, I would suggest using a q-tip. Pouring alcohol or Googone inside a phone is a super-bad idea. You obviously don’t want to short out anything. Put alcohol or GooGone on a q-tip and go from there. One thing to note, GooGone has a citrus smell, so if you do decide to use it, make sure you use a q-tip with alcohol afterwards to remove that citrus smell from your device. Good Luck!
