My Mac was running very slow so I decided to do a reinstall. I reinstalled Mac OS and after installation finished it is stuck on the apple logo with progress bar about 70% full. I even deleted all volumes, created new partition, re-installed from a boot stick (an older version, Catalina) and same issue. I can start up in safe mode just fine, went through Mac OS setup screen and got to desktop. After the safe mode reboot it loaded up the login page then froze and I can’t move the mouse. I rebooted again it loaded up 90% and the cursor then froze again. I ran diagnostics and they came back clean. Seems like issues are happening when booting up in regular mode. Any ideas?
Apple had a run of bad SSD’s which I was trying to remove at your issue. That only leaves the more expensive possibility! The AMD Radeon R9 GPU chip in the DG model. If you are a heavy graphics user (video protection or game play) that can do you in if you don’t manage the thermals well.
