I have a LG French Door refrigerator with freezer on the bottom (LFXS29766S/00) that is not cooling. The lights and digital buttons all work. On the back, the compressor makes a humming sound and does not get hot. The condenser fan is blowing air towards the compressor. The condenser coils are clean. I was diagnosed a faulty board which I ordered and changed myself but it didnt fix cooling and everything stayed the same. Once again I was diagnosed a faulty compressor start relay which I ordered and changed myself to the same results. What else could it be? When its plugged in and I open the top doors or the freezer drawer I dont fell any air circulating at all which led me to think it might be the evaporator fans motors? But it could also be that since I’m opening the doors the fans stop automatically? From the described symptoms and supposed fixes that havent been it, what could it be? I have been 2 weeks without refrigerator and its a nightmare…Thanks!
Use a cheap IR gun to check the compressor temperature and let us know your results: IR Thermometer Measuring Temperature It’s difficult to measure the temperature inside the compressor, but you can get a fairly accurate idea by measuring the temperature of the discharge line about 6 inches away from the compressor. The temperature of the tubing at this distance is typically 50 to 75 degrees lower than inside the compressor. The safe range for this temperature is below 225 degrees.
