I had screen / digitizer replaced at shop. Tech could not get iPhone 7 out of boot loop. I took home and restored on iTunes and went to latest backup. Backstory: the home button cable is severed / being used as dummy button. I have the virtual button on. I can only make calls or take pictures with headphones plugged in. If there are not plugged in and I make a call, it goes to a reboot. Upon reboot says that button is not functional. Do I need to have a home button that is intact even tho it will not function ?
If on iOS 11, you need an original button plugged in at least, iPhone 7 and above tend to freak out on iOS 11 if something like the home button isn’t detected.
