I have two questions: Does  Crucial - 8GB DDR3L-1866 SODIMM support and perform the same way of which my iMac already has?Straight forward answer to: Is it advisable for iMac upgrade of 2x8gGB while having 2x4GB already in system? I mean is it healthy for the longevity to use the iMac by having 2-4GB in 2 slots and 2 8GB in 2 slots? Please answer will be grateful …

The best way to think if more memory is better, is thinking it like pancakes! If you are a small person maybe a few dollar pancakes will fill you, on the other hand if you are working really hard your hunger could be quite large! In which case a pile of some big flapjacks is needed to quench your hunger! RAM is similar! The amount you need is dependent on what you use your system for, so someone who is just using it for simple tasks doesn’t need gobs of RAM, while other folks may need much more as they are doing video production or other large consuming RAM apps or jobs. So having more won’t hurt your system and in some cases can improve it! As to using Crucial RAM as long as its the correct specs for your given system then you’ll be fine! And mixing two different sizes won’t hurt your system either.
