My original apple battery swelled and stopped working. I replaced it with a 3rd party battery I bought off ifixit. Immediately though the battery stopped taking a charge and I had difficulty getting the laptop to turn on even when the power cord is connected. From my limited reading this may be an issue with the logic board and 3rd party batteries? Do i need to replace the logic board now as well as the battery? Can I just get a new battery?
If thats the case you should have a crossed out battery in the menu bar. That would imply SMC has a major failure. Did you get your system wet somehow? Can you give us some background on what happened. I’m wondering if the battery swelled up because of the liquid damage or if the battery somehow damaged the logic board. Basically, which came first the horse or the cart ;-}
Option one: Get new battery. Option 2: Try different charger. Option 3: Get the charging panel replaced.
