So I was replacing a screen. First the touchscreen was working fine but the home button wouldn’t. I cleaned the connectors a bit and finally got it working. I went to screw down display assembly bracket and then the touchscreen stopped working again - it would display but have no touch functionality - so again I unplugged everything. I noticed right under the bottom screen connector(the horizontal one), the plastic insulation(I’m guessing that’s what it is?) was fraying a bit. Thinking maybe the plastic was getting in the way of the connector, I pulled it back from the screen connector a tiny bit, revealing gold metal beneath just the slightest bit. Now the screen will not come on at all. I’ve tested with multiple screens and nothing so it’s probably what I did. Also the phone was charging when this happened so maybe some kind of electrical short damaged the phone? Does any body have any idea about this, or what I could do to fix it? Thank you.

Hello mbpiner, The only gold you should see near the connectors are the connectors themselves, Is it possible you can provide a picture of what gold you are looking at? I am suspecting there may be board damage. Zoom in very closely and get as clear a picture as you can. Holger

So I tried to get as close as I could but it got blurry when I got too close. You can see where the plastic below the bottom connector is pulled back and you can see a tiny bit of metal underneath. I have a 5c laying around with a good logic board…if I’ve damaged this logic board could I replace it with that one?

So I think I figured it out maybe? When I pulled the plastic back the first time I must have messed up a pin. Zoom way in and look at the four prong thing beneath the far left edge of the horizontal screen connector bracket. Directly to the right of that looks like it may be damaged to me. Is it? I apologize if you still can’t tell from this picture. Anyway if there’s nothing I can do that’s fine. I have another logic board on a spare 5c that works fine im using for parts - couldn’t I just swap them out?
